Pikes Place Protest

I didn’t start out in protest but I am in it now.  I am semi-boycotting Starbucks.  The reason is very simple, because of Pikes Place.  Ever since they unveiled it a few months ago, its all the brew.  It isn’t a bad coffee but it isn’t the best and they brew it all the time.  I miss having variety.  I miss the Breakfast Blend, Italian Roast, Ethiopia Sidamo, and Casi Cielo.  Now everytime I go to Starbucks, its Pikes Place and nothing else.  Someone told me that Starbucks is trying to be more of a coffee place and less of a cafe and they are using the new blend as a way to make that a reality.  It isn’t working.  I don’t go to Starbucks for cakes, cookies, sandwiches, or Frappachinos.  I go there for coffee and variety.  Now I don’t have that.  So until I see changes, I am making coffee at home.  I bought some of the Swedish coffee that they sell at Ikea and I brew it in the morning while I read.  Its cheaper than the $2.07 daily price of Starbucks and its helped me read more in the morning.  Starbucks, I will come back to you, but only when you come back to variety.

  1. You know they still brew a bold coffee everyday as well . . . and you can ask for any coffee they have in the store and they will open a pound, grind it fresh, and brew you your own private french press if you ask. Take advantage of it man!

  2. Jon, you have begun the coffee guy that I make fun of at work. I’m sorry to break it to you. I know, you’ll say that I just don’t understand and blah blah. Think about all the $$$ you would have saved all these years making your own Folgers at home. Trust me, I know I’m in the minority and that everyone loves Starbucks (my wife and her family and my family included) but I will not be swayed.

  3. Incred…CLearly you don’t know jon and that part of his schtick is to over-react to things like beating the HADES out of his keyboard etc. Meant to be funny, not serious dude. RELAX!!!! You seem to be the A-Hole is all of this.
